My friend, Renae, lost her father on Saturday. The visitation was yesterday in Midland. He will have a full military funeral in June.

Even though I didn't know him well, Vati played a major role in my life! Scott and I met at Vati's cabin in Barryton back in May of 1989. Renae and her high school friend, David (Scott's roommate at the time) arranged a camping and canoeing trip for a huge group of us Michigan State University seniors. We stopped at Vati's cabin where we camped overnight on our way up north to the Platte River. If it wasn't for that trip, and our stay in Barryton, I wouldn't have met Scott!
