Why is it that...
our family dinner is sometimes spent with us coaxing information out of our boys, asking lots of open-ended questions, only to be met with silence or the old "I dunno", yet at bedtime all the boys become very talkative and have detailed stories to share?

Not to fear, your official commenter is here! (And back from vacay!) You've been one busy blogger. I especially liked the post about your SAHM confessions & that you trick the boys by folding their used shower towels and putting them back in the closet. One use & then wash? No way baby.
My kids also seem to get extra chatty at bedtime. I don't get chatty --- but crabby! ;) Blog on sister.
this one is tricky --Joe is so much better than I am at being patient at bedtime- I'm pretty much done with everyone by bedtime... Currently, dinner is kind-of hectic and is usually underway when he gets home- so dinnertime seems much more focused on getting it down (the chatting happens with me before dinner and with Joe after). For example- Hannah and Tom were arguing the other night at dinner that Hannah was going to start the prayer and Tom jumped in and started it... AAARRGH! When will dinner be a nice conversation about life and not a bargaining session about how much more you have to eat or mediating the frustration over each minor transgression!!
I didn't want to comment because I felt like I was going to be too negative...
BTW- Hannah was sending you a thank you e-mail yesterday and I reminded her that she used to call you uncle patti--- Tom was lingering around and we were all giggling about it a little and Tom says... Do you know what Patti is when she's crabby...? a Krabby Patti! --little joke for all of you Sponge Bob fans
